The Batesville Area Arts Council looks forward to another successful year of its Arts in Education Program, which is officially off to a great start! AIE artists hal evans & Alicia Humbard, from the Troupe d’ Jour Theatre Company, provided an Arts in Education Residency at Batesville’s Eagle Mountain Magnet Elementary School the week of September 8th – 12th. The artists spent the week leading several educational activities for 2nd & 6th grade classrooms. During these AIE residencies, Troupe d’ Jour utilizes theatre & movement activities in the classroom to teach across disciplines, encompassing reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
BAAC partners with both the Batesville and Southside School Districts to provide these residencies and has brought in over 40 artists throughout the past decade. Artists like Troupe d’ Jour have established a strong rapport with the schools and have become an important part of the educational community. The Arts in Education program is provided through a partnership with the Batesville School District and the Batesville Area Arts Council as well as supported in part by the Arkansas Arts Council, which is an agency of the Arkansas Department of Heritage and the National Endowment for the arts.
