Batesville’s Main Street Farmers Market will finish the season on Saturday, November 8, 2014. The Market will be open from 8am til noon in the Pocket Park on Historic Main Street. The Market features local produce grown without chemicals; local pasture raised meats, eggs and cheeses; home baked goods; and handmade items great for Christmas presents.
Brood Farm out of Cave City will sell fresh eggs from pasture raised chickens as well as a whole new line of goat milk soaps made especially for Christmas. Five Acre Farms out of Pleasant Plains will have cabbage, broccoli, lettuce, kohlrabi, kale, collards, swiss chard, and green onions for sale. Garden Girl Produce, also out of Pleasant Plains, will have Arkansas Black Apples as well as sweet peppers and Fall heirloom tomatoes. Also available from local producers will be Holy Cow 100% grass fed and finished beef; Freckle Face Farm pastured poultry, beef, and pork; and Honeysuckle Lane Farm’s cows milk cheeses. You’ll find delicious home baked breads and goodies at the Rural Goods booth and Apple bread and Pumpkin Bread, jams and jellies, at the Garden Girl Produce booth. Garden Girl will also have Harvest Fresh Farms’ Pestos, Herbed Vinegars and Dry Rubs, some packaged in baskets all ready for gifts.
This first year for the Main Street Farmers Market was a big success and farmers and artisans will be meeting after the November 8th Market to decide how to proceed for the 2015 season. A weekly market is being discussed.
Saturday, November 8th, will also feature an Open House with all of the businesses on Batesville’s historic Main Street. Browse the antique shops, enjoy a great breakfast or lunch, see what’s happening at the Batesville Area Arts Council Gallery, and stop by Earth Station Nursery for fruit trees and plants, perennials for fall planting, and gifts.
