Blanchard Springs Shelter Cave Hosts Free Concert with Dave Brancecum

Mountain View, Arkansas – The Ozark Folk Center State Park and Blanchard Springs National Park will host a free concert with musician Dave Brancecum Sunday, Oct. 4.

Blanchard_Springs_Caverns_Fifty_Six_7960Brancecum will perform traditional Ozark and old time tunes from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., followed by an open “pickin” from 3:00-4:00 p.m. Admission is free and guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and instruments for the jam session.

“This is a fitting venue to close out our free monthly concert series, usually held at the Stone County Court Square,” said Music Director Daren Dortin. “Blanchard Spring and the cave hold a unique place in the musical history of this region and we’re proud to honor that with this performance.

IMG_8292The performance will take place at the Shelter Cave at Blanchard Springs National Park which served as a stage for an important musical gathering in 1941. This event was known as the Stone County Folkways Festival, and was the first Folk Festival in Stone County, Arkansas. The festival was only held at this location one year.
