Listen to a musical telling of the Civil War with the songs that shaped the period of strife. The program covers all the ups and downs of everyday citizens that endured the Civil War’s hardships in addition to battles and generals. Meeting place: Campground

Saturday, September 6th – 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Great Arkansas Cleanup
Nature is an important part of our lives from the air we breathe to the food we eat, and even in recreation. Let’s give back to nature today during the Great Arkansas Cleanup. You can help by picking up litter in Jacksonport State Park and the nearby town of Jacksonport. Free t-shirts for volunteers.  This is a meaningful service project for scouts, church groups, families and individuals.  Groups, please call ahead so we can have supplies ready for you. Explore the super powers of birds of prey and learn how they survive in the wild, and then take a walk to the end of the swim beach to see if we can spot any. Meeting place: Campground

Sunday, September 7th – 2 p.m. – 3 p.m.- Civil War Weapons
See a demonstration in black powder weapons that were used during the Civil War. Join a park interpreter to learn how these weapons were used and fired, and more about some of the famous Civil War fighters that used these confederate weapons. Meeting place: Campground
