Ozark Folk Center Presents the 36th Annual Folk Dance Days

Ozark_Folk_Center_Cloggers_Mountain_View_072012_4295Time to cut a rug when the Arkansas Country Dance Society & the Ozark Folk Center State Park host the annual Folk Dance Days Friday September 11 through the 13. The event features three days of workshops for people of all ages that focus on traditional dance styles such as clogging, jig dancing, and contra dance.

Cost for the three day workshop is $65 and $50 for Sept. 11 and 12, with a special wrap up closing dance scheduled for Sunday morning. Special fees for spectators and adult chaperones are also available.

Music Director Daren Dortin says, “Dance Days is one of our longest continual running events for a reason, the music and sense of community among the dancers and musicians keeps folks coming back”.

Featured dance callers and instructors include; Dance Caller- Nils Fredland, Clogging Instructors- Trevor DeWitt &  Matt Otwell, Traditional Dance and Jig Instructors- Aubrey Atwater,  Elwood Donnelly and Steve Green. Feature bands for the dances and nightly performances will include Mavish and Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly.

The Ozark Folk Center State Park is located at 1032 Park Avenue in Mountain View. Follow the signs to the Ozark Folk Center State Park, less than a mile from the Courthouse Square in downtown Mountain View.  The park may also be reached by taking Hwy 5/9/14 (Sylamore Ave) to Jimmy Driftwood Parkway, which leads directly to the park entrance.
