Mountain View, Arkansas – – Tellers of tales, spinners of yarns, lovers of oral history and those of you who just like to hear a good story, read on. The Ozark Storytellers group will hold its monthly story swap in the White Oak Auditorium at the Ozark Folk Center State Park on Tuesday, September 9, from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Last month we shared tales of ground hogs, deer, ghosts and rawhide shoe laces. You never know what this month’s story swap will bring.
Tellers at the monthly swap are invited to bring stories from their family, their personal history, tall tales or folk tales. We are an informal, family-friendly group; please keep that in mind when you choose your stories to share. The story swap will go in a round robin format, so everyone who wishes to gets a chance to share their tales.
Listeners are as welcome as tellers. Ozark Storytellers monthly story swaps are held the second Tuesday of every month at the park.
Ozark Storytellers is an affiliate of the National Storytelling Network. Mountain View will be hosting a Storyteller’s Gathering at the Ozark Folk Center State Park on November 14-16, 2014. Plans for the upcoming gathering will be discussed at the September Story Swap.
The mission of Ozark Folk Center State Park is to perpetuate, present and promote the Ozark way of life in an educational and enjoyable manner; through craft demonstrations, musical programs, the Heritage Herb Gardens, workshops and other special events.
