PortFest Announces Bandimonium – a Battle of the Bands – for PortFest 2017

PortFest Festival directors have announced that Bandimonium, a battle of the bands, will debut at PortFest 2017 on June 10 at Jacksonport State Park. Bandimonium will feature six bands competing for cash prizes. The competition will provide the opportunity for area and regional bands to participate in PortFest, and three of the six bands will take home prize money.

Jacksonport Courthouse NightAll Bands must submit an audio recording of the band with their application for consideration. A video or YouTube video of the band performing is preferred.

The first-place team will take home $1,500 with a $1,000 second place award and $500 for third place.

Bands must have at least three members and no more than eight. No pre-recorded tracks will be allowed in the competition. Bands will play a twenty-minute set during the competition and fifteen minutes will be allowed between bands.

The winning band will be selected based on three criteria. First, judges at the event will score each band and the judges scoring will count for one-third of the score. Second, people may purchase tickets at the Newport Area Chamber of Commerce in the name of a band giving the band one point for each ticket purchase in their name. Ticket sales will count for one-third of the score. Finally, the audience at Bandimonium will place votes for the band they feel should win and the audience voting will count for one-third of the vote.

There is no entry fee, however, the bands will be selected by the PortFest Bandimonium Committee to ensure diversity and talent. The Committee’s selection is final. Find a registration form and more details at www.portfest.org. Deadline to enter is Friday, April 14, 2017. Bands will be notified by Monday, May 1 if they have been selected to compete in Bandimonium.
