On behalf of the Arkansas History Commission and the Northeast Arkansas Regional Archives, you are invited to attend “Erasing Boundaries: Lawrence County at 200” on January 15, 2015 at Powhatan Historic State Park.  This symposium commemorates the creation of Lawrence County by the Missouri territorial Legislature on January 15, 1815.  The county originally encompassed most of what later became northern Arkansas and southern Missouri – 46 counties in all!

The day will feature speakers from many institutions and independent scholars  They will discuss a wide-ranging variety of subjects related to life, politics, and economic development within the 1815 footprint of Lawrence County.

The event is FREE, but registration is required.  Please contact the Arkansas History Commission at state.archives@Arkansas.gov or 501-682-6900 if you have questions or would like to register. The registration deadline is January 12.

Wow!  Arkansas history was my FAVORITE subject in my scholarly days, and I would not miss this for anything.  Whether a history buff or just curious, resident or traveler, whatever, join us for an informative memorable day!  We hope to see you there!   Cathy Drew & Ginger Smith
