Walnut Ridge Christmas Parade Dec. 6th

Photos don’t do the Christmas in the Park displays justice and there’s one other thing missing … Sponsor sign spotlights. We ordered those today and plan to start hooking them up Monday. Our community should be proud of the displays and those who sponsored lights! Visit Stewart Park soon and see what a community can do when they work together. I’m one of the luckiest mayors alive! #WRProud

Visit Batesville’s Winter Wonderland Magical Holiday Light Tour & Ice Skating!!!! down by the White River, AWESOME! BREATH-TAKING!

Whatever you are doing this holiday season, please take time to visit our wonderful City of Batesville, in the Ozarks, where peace and good will abound and we are so blessed to have this Winter Wonderland with over a million lights in our White River Park, with stage coach rides, and an ICE SKATING RINK!  You have to come see us.  You still have the rest of the month.  I want to see your happy faces, cause I can’t help but just grin big when I drive that beautiful tour and say, “Yes! Oh, my goodness, Oh, oh!!!!!!!”  A friend from Memphis was extremely impressed with the magnitude of our Holiday Lights.

This Magical Wonderland also is the only place in Arkansas you can take an authentic Stage coach ride, go grab your family and take a stage coach ride through the park with your loved one(s).

For directions or information, you may call Chamber of Commerce, 793-2378 or the Mayor at 793-2400.  Visit us on Facebook “Batesville Christmas Lights” or “Batesville Holiday Tour of Lights.”

Don’t miss this magical time in our lovely City of Batesville!  My favorite place in December to visit!  Take your kids, your friends, yourself!  See you there! Ginger

Mountain View Christmas Parade Dec. 3
Saturday, December 3rd. A part of the Arkansas Parks & Tourism Christmas Trail of Lights. Experience an Ozark Mountain Christmas! There will be a Christmas parade, Christmas Music on the square, a live Nativity, a Tour of Bed & Breakfasts all decorated up in their Christmas finery, and of course Santa will be there for the children. The Bed & Breakfast tour will be from 1-3pm. The parade starts at 4pm. The Tree lighting and Courthouse lighting are scheduled for 5pm.

On Saturday, December 5th, the Courthouse lighting ceremony will take place at the Stone County Courthouse (just a short walk from the Wildflower). To celebrate Christmas in Mountain View, a live nativity scene will take place as well as a Christmas parade. Santa will also drop by for a visit with the kids (and adults, too J). Live music will resonate from the Courthouse Square stage in a wonderful Christmas celebration.

The Newport Christmas Parade will be Thursday, Dec. 8, beginning at 6 p.m. The parade route will travel down Highway 69 to Malcolm Avenue, and then down to the Village Mall parking lot.
This year’s grand marshals for the Newport Christmas Parade are Dr. Patti Mullins and Buddy Rutledge. The two were selected at the annual Newport Area Chamber of Commerce banquet during its fundraising auction. Mullins and Rutledge were recognized for spearheading the annual Christmas decorating efforts in Newport. Entries are now being accepted at for floats, walking groups, antique vehicles, beauty queens, horseback riders, school organizations and more. Entry is free, and participants may choose their own holiday theme. Entry forms are now available at the Newport Area Chamber of Commerce, 201 Hazel St.
The lineup will be held in the parking lot across from Riceland Foods at McLain and Hwy. 69 no sooner than 5 p.m., with the entrance from McLain Street.
Santa Claus will be flying in early from the North Pole as the last entry in the parade, so please do not plan a “fake” Santa on your float. Float judging will begin at approximately 5:30 p.m. Please include the name of your business or organization somewhere on your float for faster judging.

Line up will be held in the parking lot across from Riceland Foods no sooner than 5 p.m. (McLain and Hwy. 69). Vehicles that are entered in the parade are to enter the parking lot from McLain Street and face toward Hwy. 69. There will be a line up crew on hand. The line up area will be very crowded. Those who are driving vehicles that will not be in the parade are asked to find parking on the Riceland side of Hwy. 69 and walk across to the line up area. If dropping off a parade participant, please do not enter the parking lot. In the event of inclement weather, parade participants will be notified of an alternate date.
