The “Victorian-Style Christmas Ornament Workshop” will be presented on December 5th, 2015 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Nineteenth-century Christmas ornaments were handmade from natural items, cards, doilies, ribbons and lace. This year we will make three different historically authentic Victorian-style Christmas ornaments to help make your tree beautiful.

Included this year are:  Victorian Lace Ornaments, Frosted Candle-Lantern Luminaria, and Spiced Cookie Clay Ornaments.

This workshop is especially nice for parents, grandparents, and children to do together. Contact the park for more information. There is a minimum of 6 participants for this workshop, with a maximum of 25. The admission fee is $7.50 per person to cover supplies. Advance reservations are required by 3 p.m. December 3rd, 2015.  Call 870-523-2143 to make your reservations. (All supplies will be furnished.)

Then on December 12th, a “Making Christmas Stockings Workshop” will be presented from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

During the Victorian era, the stockings hung by the fire on Christmas Eve were the children’s everyday socks. Today, we make fancy stockings to hang on the fireplace mantle for St. Nicholas to fill with presents, or to use as Christmas decorations. Join the park interpreter to make your own stocking out of felt or fabric, glitter, ribbons and many more embellishments.
