Lake update from Lake Charles State Park! 🌊☀️
Thanks to a recent dry spell, the lake is sitting a little lower than usual for this time of year — The good news? The lake just needs a few more inches of rain and water levels should be back to normal. But don’t let that stop your plans! There’s still a usable boat ramp at the Highway 25 overlook, and fishing is still on. 🎣 The lower water even gives visitors a unique look at parts of the shoreline you don’t normally see.

From Warbirds to Runways — Walnut Ridge’s Story Still Soars
The Walnut Ridge Army Air Field once trained WWII pilots and later became a major site for dismantling surplus military planes, with rows of aircraft stretching across the field. Today, it serves as the local airport — but the history lives on at the Wings of Honor Museum, where visitors can explore exhibits honoring the heroes and heritage of the base, located at 70 Ramp Rd. in Walnut Ridge. It’s not just an airport — it’s a runway through history.
