The White River Gravel Trail is more than a bike route—it’s part of a growing effort to establish north-central Arkansas as a premier destination for gravel cycling. Local advocates like Bobby Finster are helping develop a long-term plan connecting scenic backroads, small communities and outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the region.
Recently, Bobby and fellow riders traveled to Calico Rock, where they stopped for lunch at the Calico River View Inn. Stops like this show how gravel cycling can introduce visitors to our communities while supporting local restaurants, lodging, shops and attractions along the way.

Following rugged rural roads near the White River, the trail carries riders through rolling farmland, forested hills and some of the most beautiful—and challenging—terrain in the Arkansas Ozarks.
These routes travel through remote areas with limited services and cell reception, so riders should carefully prepare for changing weather, difficult terrain and long distances between resupply stops.
Thanks to the people working behind the scenes, these Ozark backroads may soon help put our region on the map for gravel cyclists from across the country.
