The Ozark Gateway Region held its 2026 Annual Banquet on March 19 at the Ozark Folk Center’s Skillet Restaurant in Mountain View, celebrating the people, places, and events that continue to strengthen tourism across north Arkansas.

Secretary Shea Lewis shares plans for Blanchard Springs as a State Park
The evening featured special guest speaker Shea Lewis, Secretary of the Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism, who shared insights on the impact and future of tourism throughout the state. During his remarks, Lewis announced that Blanchard Springs Caverns will reopen May 1 under the management of the U.S. Forest Service, with support from Arkansas State Parks. The caverns are expected to close again in November to allow for renovations over the next 18 months, leading to the anticipated opening of the new Blanchard Springs State Park in 2028.
Several individuals and communities were recognized for their outstanding contributions. The City of Calico Rock was honored with Festival of the Year, Ethel Tompkins of Hoxie received the President’s Award, and Donna Cruse of Hardy was named the Tom Biggs Award recipient. Stacy Fields was recognized for Distinguished Service to Tourism in the Ozark Gateway Region.
Partner in Tourism awards were presented to Citizens Bank, Bank of Cave City, CherryRoad Media, First Community Bank, FutureFuel Chemical Company, North Arkansas Electric Cooperative, Randolph County Heritage Museum, and White River Now for their continued support and commitment to regional tourism.
Guests also enjoyed live entertainment from HONEYSUCKLE HOLLER: Ellie and Julie, adding a lively musical touch to the celebration.
The annual banquet highlights the continued dedication and collaboration of communities across the Ozark Gateway Region in promoting tourism and preserving the unique culture of the area.
