Devil’s Knob is a scenic natural area about 10 miles southwest of Melbourne, Arkansas, set in the beautiful Ozark Mountains. It’s part of the Devil’s Knob–Devil’s Backbone Natural Area, known for its limestone, dolomite, and sandstone glades, woodlands, and bluff formations. The area features an uplifted ridge with two knolls connected by a saddle called the “Devil’s Backbone,” offering great views, rock outcrops, and interesting plant life like ancient Ashe’s juniper trees.
There’s a 1.25-mile loop trail that takes hikers past towering junipers, through open glades and forest, and up a short, moderate climb for scenic overlooks — marked by blue diamond blazes and ribbons on trees.
