Lyon College to Open 2026-27 Convocation Lecture Series with Holocaust Remembrance Program
BATESVILLE, Arkansas — Lyon College will kick off its 2026-27 Convocation lecture series with “Generation to Generation: Dignity,” a Holocaust remembrance and education program featuring Al Bromberg, at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9, on the Lyon College campus, 2300 Highland Road, Batesville.
The event will feature a presentation by Bromberg followed by a screening of the documentary “Generation to Generation: Dignity.” The program is free and open to the public.
Bromberg, a resident of Paragould, will share the survival story of his father, Harry Bromberg, who was born in Poland in 1919 and survived nine Nazi work, concentration and death camps during the Holocaust.
A shoemaker by trade, Harry Bromberg relied in part on those skills to survive imprisonment under the Nazi regime. His story of perseverance, loss and survival is now being preserved and shared by his son.
Parts of Harry Bromberg’s story and Al Bromberg’s own journey are rooted in Arkansas, providing a personal connection between Holocaust history and communities within the state.
“Generation to Generation: Dignity” is part of the award-winning “Generation to Generation” documentary series produced by BNB Productions. The series was created to preserve the experiences of Holocaust survivors and pass their stories and the lessons of the Holocaust from one generation to the next.
In recent years, Bromberg has shared his parents’ story and Holocaust history with students, congregations and community groups. He also moderates the Facebook group “Heritage of the Holocaust,” which has nearly 19,000 members.
His presentations and outreach focus on preserving the historical record, encouraging thoughtful understanding and ensuring that the lessons of the Holocaust are carried forward.
The Lyon College program will offer participants an opportunity to learn about the Holocaust through one family’s experience and consider the importance of preserving personal testimony as part of the historical record.
