(POWHATAN, Ark.) – Powhatan Historic State Park will host a community Lawn Bowling program on Saturday, June 6 between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Join park staff to learn how to play lawn bowling, one of George Washington’s favorite outdoor games. There is no set time to arrive as participants can come to play the game any time during the program. Come alone or bring your family to learn this historic outdoor came to take on your next state park camping adventure. No registration required.

Powhatan Historic State Park will host a program at the Powhatan Male and Female Academy on Saturday June 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.  Join park staff for this open program that connects visitors to the hopeful spirit of 19th century education. Sit at a desk in this two-room schoolhouse and discover how buildings tell stories of the past. Bring the family or come alone any time during the program to enjoy the rich history of this 19th century school. No registration required.

Powhatan Historic State Park will host a Bookbinding Workshop on Saturday, June 27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  Join park staff and learn how books are made by hand. Participants will explore the rich history of books and how they influenced Arkansas History while learning the skills to make their own. Participants will leave with their own hand-made journal. Powhatan Historic State Park will host a weekly Friday craft program throughout the month of June. Join park staff every Friday to explore a unique question about Arkansas history and life in Powhatan. Participants will explore history with activities including games, songs, crafts and adventures through the park. These programs are geared towards children ages 8-12. Children must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. Two special Fun Day Fridays will celebrate Federal Holidays: June 19 will celebrate Juneteenth and July 3 will celebrate Independence Day.  No registration required.
